In 2011, India won their third title when they hosted the tournament with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In 1987, the nation shared the tournament with Pakistan and in 1996, the two great cricket nations were joined by Sri Lanka in hosting the competition. This year's Cricket World Cup has been the first ever that India were the sole host of the tournament in the 50-over format.
